Film enthusiasts and supporters of the local film industry launched the Cinema Rehiyon @ Montañosa Film Festival (MFF) on March 1.
The National Commission for Culture and Arts and the Department of Tourism joined local film stakeholders during the launching of the MFF that banners the theme, “Divergence + Convergence”.
The theme is aligned with the city government’s objective to establish an interwoven creative and tourism endeavor of Baguio as a creative city.
The MFF opens on March 25 at SM City Baguio while the launching of online film screenings is on March 26. The launching of Cinema Rehiyon best of the regions is on March 27.
Janthrize Andanan, who was among the 2022 mobile film category finalist, said she is joining year’s MFF in the Documentary Film Category.
“It is challenging because it’s new to me. As a filmmaker, I only published short films by using DSLR or mobile phones. But in a documentary, there is a lot to do such as doing research on a certain topic or person, travelling to have a proper connection or get information; having the right and proper documents that are needed, and the like,” she said.
The organizers said a lot is in store during for this year’s MFF for film enthusiasts to enjoy. – Alexia Pascual
