The Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) advised motorcycle riders to observe defensive driving and speed limit at all times to avoid causing or becoming victims of road accidents.
At the same time, the BCPO will intensify monitoring and implementation of traffic rules along critical roads in the city.
The reminder came following the death of a food delivery rider who died after figuring in a road accident involving a 10-wheeler truck at Upper Purok Pidawan, Loakan Pro-per last Feb. 28.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong sought enhanced engagements with riders and stricter implementation of speed limit along the highways and roads in the city to prevent similar incidents.
BCPO City Director, Col. Francisco Bulwayan, Jr. in his report said Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) personnel met with the food delivery company where the victim was employed to solicit management’s support in reminding and encouraging their drivers to observe defensive driving and to follow traffic rules at all times.
The TEU under Maj. Zacarias Dau-sen also coordinated with personnel of the BCPO Station 4 for the conduct of aggressive checkpoint activities along the road and to apprehend over speeding vehicles including motorcycles traversing Loakan Road
Joint operations with the Land Transportation Office will also be conducted regularly along identified areas in the city to monitor and address similar problems on over speeding and traffic violations. – Aileen P. Refuerzo
