More barangay multipurpose halls with modern features will rise in the city following the completion of the Bakakeng Central structure, which now serves as the standard for similar projects.

The second project, the West Quirino Barangay Hall, is almost ready to be turned over, according to City Administrator Bonifacio dela Peña.

Both underwent inspection last April 28.

The Irisan Barangay Hall is ongoing and targeted for completion also within the year while plans and estimates for Engineers Hill and Bayan Park barangay halls are being finalized.

City Buildings and Architecture Officer, Arch. Johnny Degay, said the West Quirino Hill and Irisan halls were smaller but will have similar features with that of Bakakeng Central.

Degay said the Bakakeng Central hall has been completed except for the finishing touches like fence, landscaping, and generation system.

The structure that has elicited positive feedback from residents for its impressive quality and features serves as the model for all barangays halls in the city as envisioned by Mayor Benjamin Magalong.

It incorporates other amenities like basketball court, evacuation center, day care center, and senior citizens office.

The mayor had always emphasized his thrust to raise the bar of infrastructure project implementation in the city to ensure quality outputs and among those prioritized was the modernization of barangay halls.

For the past years even while during the pandemic, the mayor actively scouted for funds to implement the first barangay hall project and was able to secure funds from Sen. Bato dela Rosa and other government entities.

He aims to build one structure for each of the barangays.

Degay said the mayor had also secured funding for two more barangay hall projects at Engineers Hill and Bayan Park and are now on the planning stage while several others are in the pipeline. – Aileen P. Refuerzo
