SADANGA, Mountain Province –The government, through the whole-of-society approach, continuously strives to bring services in areas affected by internal armed conflict towards its goal of attaining sustainable peace.

The Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (Opapru) led a medical-dental-optical/ophthalmology mission on Nov. 18 to 19 at the Sadanga municipal grounds benefitting 526 residents.

The activity was in partnership with the local government unit of Sadanga and the Medical Outreach Missions Fellowship under the Saint Louis University-School of Medicine.

The activity aimed to provide assistance to the basic needs of the Cordillera Bodong Administration-Cordillera People’s Liberation Army communities like Sadanga.

Opapru consultant Thomas Killip said the provision of medical needs was based on the needs assessment which was conducted last year.

He said the success of the activity was because of the active networking of the local officials.

Opapru consultant B/Gen. Bismark Soliba said the Opapru will support the communities in bridging gaps. However, peace needs to come from the community itself.

“All the peace initiatives, the Opapru will coordinate. We identify what are the gaps but won’t be giving peace, you are the one who can ultimately work for peace” he said.

Mayor Adolf  Ganggangan expressed gratitude to the participating agencies and service providers who helped in the successful conduct of the mission.
