Police operatives of the Cordillera destroyed P62.3 million worth of marijuana in different plantation sites in Benguet and Kalinga.

“Patuloy ang ginagawa nating eradication para patuloy na mapigilan ang pagdadala ng marijuana sa urban areas,” said Police Regional Office Cordillera information officer Capt. Marnie Abellanida.

He assured the public that the anti-illegal drugs effort of the police will continue even after the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte.

“Kasama sa trabaho natin ‘yan kasi ang illegal drugs may kadugtong na criminal activity,” Abellanida said.

He said police officers in Kalinga, joined by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, uprooted 310,000 pieces fully-grown marijuana plants with a standard drug price of P62M in 26 different plantation sites in barangays Buscalan, Butbut, and Loccong, all in Tinglayan, Kalinga.

The operation in Kalinga was from June 24 to 26.

Abellanida said the simultaneous operations led to the destruction of 80 pieces fully grown marijuana plants with a standard drug price of P16,000 and three kilograms dried marijuana stalks worth P360,000 in two plantation sites in Barangay Badeo, Kibungan, Benguet,

All marijuana plants and dried stalks were destroyed on-site.

No cultivator was apprehended during the operations. – PNA
