Representatives of the University of the Cordilleras Communication interns and League of Alumni of College of Arts and Sciences (Lacas) delivered 10 boxes and 42 bags of used clothes to the Go Team at Youth Character Network in Lower P. Burgos, Baguio City last July 18.
The activity dubbed Project Rug-sak, after the Ilocano term ragsak which means happiness or joy, was made possible through the partnership of UC Communication interns, Lacas led by Brian Baul Baldoza and Go Team represented by Sarah Sailong.
The project aims to spread happiness, positivity, and love during the pande-mic.
“I commend the leadership of the UC interns and Lacas in organizing the Rug-sak project. Way to go, youth,” Sailong said.
The used clothes were donated by individuals from Baguio City and La Trinidad, Benguet and will be given to the Maranao community as materials for making rugs since a lot of them lost their source of income. “Rugsak is like one of the materials of the bridge that connects communities of Muslims and Non-muslims.”
“It shows na tayong mga Pinoy, innate na sa atin ang pagiging helpful at ang pagbabayanihan,” she added. – Jimrex T. Calatan
