Mayor Benjamin Magalong has directed the City Veterinary and Agriculture Office (CVAO), City Buildings and Architecture Office, and the City Planning and Development Office to formulate a plan and design for the city’s proposed livestock market.

Magalong gave the order upon the recommendation of CVAO Head Silardo Bested.

Bested said the planned livestock market will be situated at the land along Marcos Highway, which was given by the Department of Agriculture to the city government under a usufruct agreement.

He said those selling live chickens at Block 4 and the pigs, goats, and other animals sold at the Slaughterhouse Compound and at Lakandula St. will be transferred to the proposed livestock market.

Bested said the structure’s plans and design, including the number of stalls to be constructed and other specifications are targeted to be completed within a month.

He said a public consultation will be conducted with stakeholders to get their opinions, suggestions, and other inputs that will be taken into consideration and integrated in the proposed project. – Gaby B. Keith
