The proposed re-nationalization of Benguet General Hospital will greatly help not only the province but also the whole of Cordillera.
Department of Health Usec. Roger Tong-an, during the public consultation for the re-nationalization of BeGH on Feb. 27, said the hospital would greatly improve if it is managed by the national government through the DOH.
BeGH would help in decongesting the DOH-backed Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center as the identified apex hospital in the region.
Tong-an has presented the advantages of having BeGH re-nationalized such as being funded by the national government through the DOH so the provincial funds would instead be used to fund district hospitals and other programs of the provincial government.
“As you have seen, BGH will soon have its own heart center, kidney center, and lung center. So in fact, iyong catheterization laboratory nila malapit ng mag-open so pwede na tayo mag-angiogram, angioplasty. Iyon din ang dream namin para sa BeGH,” Tong-an said.
A kidney center, lung center, brain center, trauma center, and heart center within the 25-hectare BHGMC reservation would be completed in 2021.
BGHMC Chief Ricardo Ruñez, who discussed their experience as a DOH-managed hospital said they are committed to help out BeGH.
