The restoration of the Rose Garden was done immediately after the closing of the Enchanting Baguio Christmas 2023 activities, City Environment and Parks Management Office (Cepmo) Head Rhenan Diwas said.

Diwas said the Baguio Tourism Council (BTC) which spearheaded the 40-day Baguio Christmas Market at Burnham Park conducted cleanup and flushing of the area right after the closing activity last Jan. 7 in collaboration with Cepmo.

Coordination was also immediately done between the BTC and Cepmo to assess any damage that may need repair or replacement as a result of the influx of people to the area for the whole duration.

Diwas said his office reported no major damage except for the need to rehabilitate the dried up lawn grass and replace some flowering plants which the BTC promised to deliver.

“The restoration works were done automatically and in fact is part of the standard operating procedure for events. The BTC did its assignment and wrote our office to coordinate right after the event,” he said.

Mayor Benjamin Magalong lauded the BTC and Cepmo for their prompt action.

“We cannot thank the BTC enough for the successful staging of our Christmas activities which brought about a very memorable experience for both residents and tourists. As a body dedicated to enlivening the city’s tourism industry, I am sure that the BTC knows its responsibilities and fulfills them,” he said. – Aileen P.
