The city government has renamed a road in honor of the contributions of one of the religious groups in the city.

Mayor Benjamin Magalong signed Ordinance 4, s. 2024, renaming a portion of Asin Road, particularly from the Naguilian-Asin Road Junction to the Asin Road-San Roque-San Luis Junction as Asin Road-Recoletos Loop.

The ordinance stated Casiciaco Recoletos Seminary has been at the forefront of the political, socio-economic, environmental, and spiritual development of surrounding communities particularly San Luis and San Roque barangays since the 1950s and has consistently opened its doors to the poor and needy.

It added the Recollect priests “are a big help to the diocese in complementing the shortage of priests by conducting masses to barangays and gimongs nearby, and also conducting masses at St. Vincent Parish and Our Lady of Atonement at the Baguio Cathedral.

They also give retreats, recollections, catechism, and inspiring talks and lectures at the seminary and different places in the city of Baguio.”

The City Engineering Office was directed to take the necessary actions in its implementation and shall install the necessary street sign to indicate the new name of the drive.

Copies of the ordinance shall be furnished to the City Assessor’s Office; City Planning, Development, and Sustainability Office; and other concerned agencies for proper guidance and plotting in the official maps and documents of the city. – Gaby B. Keith
