Cordilleran short film “Dayas” is one of the official selections for the International Film Festival Manhattan (IFFM) New York.
“Dayas” passed the strict judgment of the juries in the 11th IFFM held annually in New York City, U.S.A.
The IFFM offers a quality selection of world-class films which are showcased in theaters in Manhattan New York City.
“Dayas” is produced by Sine Cordillera and Be Unrivaled Productions through Direk Jianlin de los Santos Floresca, an Igorot director who entered the official selections of several international film festivals like First-Time Filmmaker Online Sessions in the United Kingdom and Noble International Film Festival and Awards in India, with assistant director Pete Mariano.
Through these platforms, direk Jianlin and direk Pete aim to showcase the beautiful culture of the Cordillera and its people.
This narrative short film focuses on the lives of two Igorot miners from the mountains of Itogon, Benguet: “Hakob”, whose grandmother is a gold buyer and a respected mother of the town and “Bantay”, whose wife died of poisoning from the chemicals from the mines.
“Dayas” is an advocacy film that helps local talents and film makers and provides education and entertainment during this pandemic.
The IFFM will have two awards nights, which is the online last March and in October. The IFFM will also award the promo/trailer that gets the highest views on YouTube as the Most Popular Film.
The counting of views starts on Sept. 20 until Oct. 6 at 9 p.m. New York time. – Press release
