BANGUED, Abra – The Social Security System recently held a Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) campaign here and in Pidigan.

SSS-Bangued Branch led by Manager Edward Urua along with SSS lawyers visited gasoline stations, construction firms, and water refilling stations. The team issued to two delinquent employers in Pidigan and six in Bangued notices to settle their delinquencies and remit the corresponding monthly contributions of their workers.

Thee RACE campaign, which was the third in Abra for this year, aims to ensure the social security coverage of members and enhance SSS’ collection efficiency as provided under Republic Act 11199 or the Social Security Act of 2018.

The RACE campaign also offers an opportunity for delinquent employers to avail of the Contribution Penalty Condonation, Delinquency Management and Restructuring Program (CPCoDe MRP) or the Contribution Penalty Condonation and Restructuring Program for household employers where only the unremitted contributions will be paid while condoning the accrued penalties.

“Responsibility ng mga employer na ibigay ang monthly contributions ng kanilang mga empleyado sa SSS. For instance, kung may nangyari sa mga workers or employees nila at walang monthly contribution, malaki ang liability ng employer nila,” Urua said.

Under the Social Security Act, employers who are not remitting the monthly contributions of their workers shall be penalized with a fine of P5,000 to P20,000 and face imprisonment ranging from six years and one day to 12 years.

With the condonation program, erring employers are given a 15-day grace period from the issuance of the notice to settle their contribution delinquencies with SSS. – Christian Tubadeza
