TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Department of Public Works and Highways-Cordillera is spearheading a study that aims to establish sewerage and septage treatment plant in this city.
Vilma F. Talamayan, DPWH-Cordillera environmental management specialist, led city local government and academe officials in a forum here for the project.
Talamayan said Baguio City is the first to have this facility but other first class municipalities and urbanized areas in the region are eyed for the project under the National Sewerage and Septage Ma-nagement Program.
This is ideal for an area that is fast becoming urbanized, like Tabuk City.
The body resolved to work for the initial requirements of the project that include project proposal and feasibility study.
Talamayan the DENR will provide technical assistance in the preparation.
The city LGU sees this as priority need and is considering a proposed site for the project. – Larry Lopez
