TABUK CITY, Kalinga – For the third time, the city won the regional child-friendly seal under the Component City Category.
Marybel Lattot of the City Social Welfare and Development Office said the city received P50,000 cash prize.
Tabuk won the same award in 2015 and 2017.
The Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance of the Department of Social Welfare and Development is given to local government units that meet the standards in child care and protection. The program areas cover children’s development, protection, survival and participation.
In 2018, the city has implemented P5.4 million supplemental feeding to daycare children and has equipped daycare workers skills in child care and protection.
Lattot said the city also organized value enhancement seminars for children-in-conflict with law together with their parents, who were asked to also undergo the seminar considering their crucial role in molding their children.
For children who are victims of rape and maltreatment, stress de-briefing was given.
Team building and planning were also conducted to promote youth involvement, encampments, drug symposium, leadership training.
The city government also extended financial assistance to children with disability and organized a family day for them to develop their self-esteem. – Larry T. Lopez
