TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Department of Agriculture distributed fertilizer discount vouchers totaling P34,223,014 to farmers here and covering 5,185 hectares of riceland.
Lim Docyugen, City Agriculture Services Office acting head, said the financial support is given to small farmers tilling two hectares and below.
The distribution of vouchers was done simultaneously in 11 clustered centers.
The aid under DA’s regular fund provides P6,600 discount in cost of fertilizer per hectare. The cost of urea fertilizer in the ranges from P1,500 to 1,900 per bag.
Beneficiaries claim the discount with DA-accredited fertilizer retailers, namely Oplay Tay-og, Ybulo Agri-supply, Agbannawag General Merchandise, Casigayan FS, CNC Marketing, Matagoan, Valencia, Kintoman, JGL and GM and FM Agromix.
Docyugen said during wet season, farmers used to apply two to five bags of urea per hectare and three to six bags during dry season. – Larry Lopez
