Mayor Benjamin Magalong tasked the Baguio City Police Office, City Tourism Office, and the Traffic and Transportation Management Division to start planning a transportation scheme to and from the Loakan Airport including adjoining roads and streets.
The mayor made the order on Oct. 28 during the management committee meeting of department heads after Philippine Airlines announced its target to operate direct flights between Baguio and Cebu City beginning Dec. 16.
PAL announced the following schedule of domestic flights: PR 2230 Cebu-Baguio – every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday – departing Mactan Cebu Airport at 8:50 a.m. and arriving at Baguio Loakan Airport at 10:50 a.m.; and PR 2231 Baguio-Cebu – every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday – departing at Baguio at 11:10 a.m., arriving in Cebu at 1 p.m.
PAL has yet to announce when bookings will be accepted through its website at www.philippineairlines.com.
In the past months, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines and the Department of Transportation fast-tracked the rehabilitation of the Loakan Airport to meet the target reopening of commercial flights by Christmastime.– Jessa Mardy P. Samidan
