The provincial government of Abra brought home the second batch of stranded residents in Baguio City and Benguet on June 3.

The Task Unit for Locally Stranded Individuals (Tulsi) extracted 24   students, workers, and senior citizens who were stranded in Baguio and Benguet since mid-March.

The provincial government sent a sweeper bus to pick the locally-stranded individuals.

Last week, 13 stranded individuals in Baguio City and 17 in Metro Manila were also brought home to Abra.

The passengers underwent health screening before they were issued travel permits.

Upon arrival in Abra, the locally-stranded individuals were brought to their respective barangay or municipal isolation units where they will undergo triage and the mandatory 14-day quarantine.

One of the stranded students, Chrissa Mae Cacho, thanked Gov. Maria Jocelyn Bernos and the Abra provincial government for providing them free ride in going back to their hometowns in Abra after two months of staying in Baguio City during the ECQ.

She also thanked Rep. Joseph Santo Niño Bernos for proving cash assistance while they were on lockdown.

Cacho also expressed gratitude to the barangay officials of Sanitary Camp and the city government of Baguio for the relief goods they have been giving to the stranded students.

She    chose to remain in Baguio during the ECQ to finish the school requirements particularly those that were given online since there is no Internet access in her hometown.

Bernos called on locally stranded individuals and returning overseas Filipino workers to coordinate with their local government units and the provincial government for instructions on how they could avail the free ride back home to Abra. – Redjie M. Cawis
