QUEZON CITY — Two units and a non-uniformed personnel (NUP) of the Police Regional Office-Cordillera were among the major awardees during the 121st Philippine National Police Service anniversary held at Camp Crame on Aug. 8.

President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. and PNP chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin, Jr. conferred the “Best Provincial Mobile Force Company” streamer to the 1st PMFC of the Mountain Province Police Provincial Office under Lt/Col. Roy Awisan.

The City Mobile Force Company of the Baguio City Police Office was also adjudged the “Best CMFC” with force commander Lt/Col. Renny Lizardo receiving the trophy and streamer.

It is the first time both units were conferred the national award during the annual PNP Service anniversary, although BCPO has been conferred the “Best City Police Office” several times in the past.

NUP Mary Jean Bañaga was conferred the “Best NUP for non-supervisory level”. She also received a trophy from Marcos Jr. and Azurin.

Also present assisting Marcos was Department of Interior and Local Government Sec. Benhur Abalos. The DILG has supervisory control over the PNP.

In his message, Marcos Jr. commended the PNP for its great accomplishments as he enjoined the organization to give its best without sacrificing its integrity as a servant of the people.

Marcos said as vanguards of peace, the 226,000 strong members of the PNP must set an example of the kind of leaders that the people need.

“Being the uniformed officers that you are, your role in the preservation of peace and order is pivotal in the outcome of this administration’s carefully crafted master plan to bring about meaningful changes of the lives of many, if not all, Filipinos,” Marcos Jr. said.

“It is impressive the selfless acts of bravery and self-sacrifice that you, your families, your men, your troops and all of those in the armed services serving in the Philippine National Police have gone through and continue to do so, putting your lives on the line as you perform your duties and responsibilities 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” the President added. – Harley F.
