Time to spur development in the provinces

People flock to cities to seek employment or to study. But due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the government is asking them to return to their provinces to decongest urban centers. Even overseas Filipino workers are brought to their hometowns.
This move will only succeed if substantial investments are put in place in the provinces to employ and educate returning residents.
In areas where vast lands are present for agriculture, farming should be made a noble and gainful enterprise.
Factories should be established in the provinces.
Cottage industries managed the way cooperatives are run, could also prosper.
There is also a need to enhance the capability of state colleges and universities in the provinces to provide for the educational requirements of the populace. — PERCIVAL B. ALIPIT, Baguio City
