Understanding the coronavirus disease-2019
The benchmark reported data when the enhanced community quarantine was declared due to the incidence of the coronavirus disease-2019 in our country were 803 infected cases and 54 deaths. Are these figures considered threshold levels to justify an emergency response?
Precautionary measures are being undertaken, but reports say that the virus infection is increasing to imply that we should more to contain the disease – to confirm the presence of the virus with the use of high-powered electron microscope and polymerase chain reaction and established distinct symptoms associated with the virus in contrast or comparison with those of the common respiratory virus diseases like flu and pneumonia so we can confidently say that one is positively infected with coronavirus.
These are essential to know in accurate virus detection and effective prevention.
The incubation period of the SARS-COV2 is up to 14 days. At the end of the quarantine, there ought to be a credible basis to recommend that we are safe from the virus and we can resume our normal lives.
We now feel the impact of divine punishment – pestilence, hunger, earthquakes, volcano eruptions, harsh weather, and other disasters because of our disobedience to the word of our Creator.
Let us continue to pray and ask for forgiveness of our misdeeds and promise to live righteous lives, for it is only God who can heal and save us from destruction. — PERCIVAL B. ALIPIT, Baguio City
