Mayor Benjamin Magalong and city officials recently awarded city employees who won the 120-day Healthy Weight Loss Challenge during the regular flag raising ceremony on Jan. 15 at the City Hall grounds.
Pacita Lachica from the City Mayor’s Office (CMO) emerged victorious in the individual category, losing 10.9 kilograms; City Engineering Office’s (CEO) Robert Tambic, who lost 10.4 kg, second place; and Artemio Luis Jr. of the City Veterinary and Agriculture Office (CVAO) placed third, losing 10.1 kg.
The winner received P25,000, P20,000 for second place, and P15,000 for third place.
Allan Abayao of CMO, Janice Mestito of the City Administrator’s Office, and Narcisa Guminigin of CVAO got consolation prizes of P5,000 each.
The Local Civil Registry bagged first place in the department category, followed by the City Accounting Office, and the City Human Resource Management Office.
The 120-day Healthy Weight Loss Challenge started on Aug. 18 until Dec. 1, 2023 where 22 participants registered for the individual category and 20 of the city’s departments joined in the department category.
The program was initiated by the CMO, Human Resource and Management Office, Health Services Office, and Sports Development Division to promote a healthy lifestyle and reduce the prevalence of overweight and obesity among the employees. – Mileyvonne Tiamzon
