BESAO, Mountain Province – Development is slowly being felt by residents in a remote barangay here with the improvement of its roads.
Residents of Barangay Tamboan and local officials led by Gov. Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr. and Rep. Maximo Y. Dalog, Jr. and partners from the private sector joined the groundbreaking ceremony for the projects funded under the Local Government Support Fund-Support to Barangay Development Program (LGSF-SBDP) National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict for 2021.
These projects are the improvement of the barangay road, construction/improvement of Sitio Ugawi access road, and construction/ improvement of Dandanac-Madagem access road, all at Tamboan.
The projects are funded by the P20 million allotted for each SBDP beneficiary to address the root causes of insurgency.
Tamboan is one of the eight beneficiary barangays in the Cordillera and the only beneficiary in Mountain Province.
Department of the Interior and Local Government-Mountain Province Director Anthony Ballug said the SBDP is one of the implementing mechanisms of Executive Order 70, which aims to achieve inclusive and sustainable peace by ending local communist armed conflict.
These projects will help in the socio-economic development not only of the barangays but also the municipality.  
Dalog lauded the residents for their cooperation with the government, especially in the efforts to end insurgency.
  Lacwasan said with a safe and peaceful environment, development is slowly making its way into the barangay starting with the road projects.
 B/Gen. Krishnamurte A. Mortela, commanding officer of 702nd Brigade, 7th Infantry Division of the Army, and Mountain Province Police Provincial Director, Col. Ruben B. Andiso were also present during the groundbreaking.
Tamboan Punong Barangay Emerson Mangallay welcomed the positive developments in his barangay and thanked the various government offices for the project. – Valerie Taguba
