LAGAWE, Ifugao – The Bureau of Fire Protection spearheaded the observance of the Barangay Fire Brigade Month through series of activities.
BFP Information Officer, SFO1 Cecile Indopia, said they have activities under the Oplan Ligtas Pamayanan (OLP), which include the organization and training of Community Fire Auxiliary Group (CFAG) in the different barangays, fire drills, fire olympics, hanging of tarpaulins, and information and education drives.
Indopia said that OLP is the BFP’s res-ponse to the growing demand for a more adoptive, comprehensive, and immersive fire protection program for the communities that sum up the agency’s new and improved approach of providing a fire protection plan to produce results.
The plan targets the causes of uncontrolled fire and why there is increasing number of fire incidents in residential areas and bridge the gaps by providing holistic and scientific solutions.
The OLP has five components that include the Handang Pamayanan Program with re-focused activities that complements one another. These include the formulation of a fire community protection plan and the Brigada ng bayan tungo sa ligtas na tahanan at pamayanan or Brigada Program, in which a revitalized barangay fire brigade structure and composition is established under the new name, CFAG. – Marcelo B.
