BONTOC, Mountain Province – An organization of persons with disability in Bontoc will soon be selling wheelchairs following the receipt of P478,868 worth of  livelihood grant from the Department of Labor and Employment.

The recipient, the 27-member Layad Organization, will also sell wheelchair accessories and will offer repair services.

Layad Organization president Sylvia Falag-ey said the organization chose accessory trading and repair because such services do not exist in the province yet. She said the group hopes to become the main supplier and repair center in Mountain Province.

The DOLE Mountain Province has partnered with the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College to train the group’s members on entrepreneurial management.

As the LGU’s counterpart, an amount was allotted for the training and monitoring of the implementation of the project.

The livelihood grant was funded under the DOLE’s Integrated Livelihood Emergency Employment Program. –      Alpine L. Killa
