LAGAWE, Ifugao – The Provincial Science and Technology Office (PSTO) signed a memorandum of agreement with two business owners and an association in Alfonso Lista to improve their productivity.
PSTO-Ifugao Director Genna Jallorina, San Marcos Punong Barangay Aldwin Patali, and Rang-Ay Homeworkers Association President Ceazarharry Bedey signed the MOA for the implementation of the Local Grants-In-Aid (GIA) project entitled “S&T support for a competitive metal industry in Ifugao through the establishment of a metals fabrication shop at San Marcos, A. Lista, Ifugao.”
The GIA program aims to contribute to productivity improvement and the quality of life of Filipinos by generating and promoting appropriate technologies through the funding of relevant science and technology (S&T) undertakings.
Jallorina also inked a partnership with two local business owners under the DOST’s Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (Setup).
These are with Maria Nelyn Uy, owner of Nesalyn Bakeshop, for the implementation of the project entitled “Upgrading of production facilities and equipment of Nesalyn’s Bakery (Phase II)” and Joselyn Agtarap, owner of 3Js Hardware & Construction Supplies for the project, “Technology upgrading of 3Js Hardware & Construction Supplies for the production of concrete hollow blocks.”
The DOST-Setup encourages and assists micro, small, and medium enterprises to adopt technological innovations to improve their products, services, and operations to increase their productivity and competitiveness. – Florida B. Robles
