LAMUT, Ifugao – Gov. Jerry Dalipog has called on local governments and stakeholders to support the measles-rubella and polio supplemental immunization activity (MR-OPV SIA) in the province.

The provincial government through the Provincial Health Office (PHO) and the Provincial Department of Health Office (PDOHO) led the launching of the MR-OPV SIA in the province. The MR-OPV SIA is a nationwide month-long activity that started on Oct. 26 until Nov. 25.

Dalipog said every municipality has the power and authority to promote the general welfare within its jurisdiction, including the promotion of health and safety of its constituents.

“This is to ensure the highest immunization coverage among our infants and children aged zero to 59 months in the province,” he said.

Dalipog said achieving 95 percent coverage of the population of infants and children aged zero to 59 months requires unified commitments of the national government, local government units, health workers, communities, parents, and all sectors of society.

He formed the implementing agencies that consist of the PDOHO, PHO, parents, and civil society and community organizations to ensure the successful implementation of the campaign.

A local campaign incident management team (IMT) composed of various committees was also created to review and approve policies, systems, and plans appropriate to the campaign; ensure the successful implementation of the campaign in coordination local health workers; and submit consolidated daily accomplishment reports.

All expenses to be incurred by the IMT for the operational activities of the MR-OPV SIA will be charged to the maintenance and other operating expenses or any available funds of the LGUs. – Marcelo B. Lihgawon
