Vincent Malcurat and Jenny-vi Fontanilla topped the 2020 Marikit-Pigingan trail race in Dalupirip, Itogon, Benguet on Feb. 16.
Malcurat of France conquered the 47-kilometer event in eight hours and 19 minutes, leading 55 runners in the men’s category.
Following him is Fontanilla, who finished strong at 9:16:00. She was the surprise second overall and topped the women’s category of the event, which is part of the King of the Mountain Trail Run series.   
Marc Conrad Molina placed second in the 47-km men’s event at 9:45:00 followed by Raymond Kenneth Dionisio at 9:46:00.
In the women’s side, Michelle Daulayan placed second with a time of 10:14:00 followed by Sunshine Wanawan at 10:34:00.
Meanwhile, Ypril Marc Manzano led the men’s 30-km of the event backed by FrontRunner Magazine at 3:46:00 followed by Laurence Balanza at 3:57:00 and Wisly Marquez at 4:14:00.
Southeast Asian Games gold medalist Sandi Abahan ruled the women’s 30-km at 4:04:00 followed by Arlene Uyammi at 4:52:00 and Lea Fe Mediana at 5:14:00.
The Marikit-Pigingan trail race was backed by the Department of Tourism-Cordillera, Berjaya, Papa John’s Pizza, Gatorade, Milo Nutri-Up, San Miguel Beer, T8 Typhoon Wear, Coros GPS Watches, Shake Hands Running Bottle, Reebok, and Garmin.
The event, which was in partnership with the municipal government of Itogon and Barangay Dalupirip, was also made possible with the assistance of volunteers and race marshals led by Team Pinikpikan and Itogon Mountain Runners. – Ofelia C. Empian
