Highland Boxing Gym’s top honcho Brico Santig will receive the Southeast Asia Promoter of the Year 2019 award from the Asian Boxing Council, an affiliate of the World Boxing Council, during award rites in Bangkok, Thailand next month.
WBC Asia President, Police Gen. Kovid Bhadibhumi, in a letter to Santig on Feb. 19, said the awards presentation is part of the three-day WBC Asia Boxing and Muay Thai world convention in Thailand.
He said that no other than WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman will grace the awards night, which will also be attended by dignitaries in the world of boxing.
“We are all looking forward to welcoming you to Bangkok to celebrate the continued success of the WBC Asian Boxing Council activities and the WBC Muay Thai global events,” reads Bhadibhumi’s letter.
In January, Santig was named by BoxRec as the top promoter in the Philippines for 2019.
BoxRec is one of the reputable sources of information and statics on boxing in the world.

Two years ago, Santig received the WBC Asia Oriental Promoter of the Year for promoting boxing events in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and India.
It was the third consecutive time that Santig was honored by the WBC Asia. He was named the “World Boxing Council Asia Honorary Promoter of the Year 2016.”
