With alarming reports of hospitals overflowing with Covid-19 patients and our health system getting overwhelmed by the fury of the pandemic, it is best to sound the clarion call once more for everyone to strictly heed minimum public health standards and also get vaccinated (for those who have not yet) for all our sake and that of our loved ones.
This near-sighted Ibaloy writer is not being alarmist or corny in saying that now is not the time to be stubborn since lives are literally at stake.
Honestly, there are times when we no longer want to read, watch, or hear the news since it is quite depressing especially now that Christmas, the supposed happiest season of the year, is upon us. However, the sad reality is we are currently in a world war with an invisible enemy that does not discriminate against anyone it afflicts.
So, as “soldiers” in this war, we should all do ourselves a favor by doing our best to protect ourselves and families and not solely rely on the government or health agencies. We should do our part in this war by following health protocols and having ourselves vaccinated. Please lang.
Anyway, a family friend who works as a nurse in a South Carolina hospital in the United States said they have a lot of Covid-19 patients and claimed those who die are still quite young. She said more than 90 percent of the fatalities are unvaccinated. Again, let’s all have ourselves be fully vaccinated. It’s always better to be safe than sorry.
As Mayor Benjamin Magalong often states, “Let us all continue to move forward as one and heal as one.”

Here’s “Hope” by Emily Dickinson: “’Hope’ is the thing with feathers –/ That perches in the soul –/ And sings the tune without the words –/ And never stops – at all –/ And sweetest – in the Gale – is heard –/ And sore must be the storm –/ That could abash the little Bird/ That kept so many warm –/ I’ve heard it in the chillest land –/ And on the strangest Sea –/ Yet – never – in Extremity,/ It asked a crumb – of me.”

Let’s end with a prayer: “Father, I need Your peace. I have allowed my attention to shift towards the distractions and circumstances I am currently struggling with. I have exhausted my resources and energy. I am actively placing my thoughts and focus back on You and Your faithfulness. I thank You that You are continually pursuing me and always drawing my heart back towards You. I thank You for Your kindness and patience towards me. Thank You for reminding me of our history together. I know that I can trust You. Help me, Father, to learn to rest in Your peace. Amen.
May our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ continue to bless and keep us all safe.
