LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Nine couples from the Police Regional Office Cordillera exchanged marital vows on Friday at the Saint Paul Church here.
The ceremony is an annual activity of the PRO-Cor to legitimize the status of policemen with their partners.
“The purpose of this is to show that policemen are not all work but are also looking at their spiritual and marriage dimension,” said PRO-Cor Information Officer Maj. Carolina Lacuata.
She said the wedding ceremony for policemen is a good practice of the Philippine National Police.
“We believe that when a policeman is healthy and has a good family, he will also be providing good service to the public,” Lacuata said.
PRO-Cor last held a mass wedding for policemen in December last year
Regional Chaplain Rev. Fr. Joselito Borja officiated the mass wedding.
Lacuata said the Police Community Relations branch processed the documentary requirements of the couples prior to the ceremony.
“As part of the internal cleansing effort of the organization, policemen cannot be infidel to their spouses,” Lacuata said.
The PNP has discovered that several policemen have two or more families, prompting them to go into illegal activities so as to sustain the needs of providing for two or more families. – PNA
