Dear Manang,
Of late, I have experienced vertigo. The spinning sensation is awful when I am standing or even while sitting. The doctor said there is something wrong with my ears. I wonder if this will go away. There are days when I throw up because of it. I wonder if there are others out there who have similar sensations.
Frankie of Bakakeng Norte, Baguio City

Dear Frankie,
As I look into the information on vertigo, I can see some optimism for those who can have this but mind you, I have no business with this. I am not a doctor, just a duck. Literature says that it may be temporary and can go away without treatment, because the brain signals it. For now, I just want you to remember that it is useful for you to seek professional help. I wish I had the brains to have become one.
Be well,
Manang

Dear Manang,
Could my daughter who has been a victim of physical and mental abuse have post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)? I can see how distracted she can get and also how vague her answers are when the family asks about her plans. They say depression and sleep disorder affects these people. How do we help them?
Honey of Camp 7, Baguio City

Dear Honey,
Low self-esteem is an immediate reaction, say some articles. This must be the distraction and detachment. The other manifestations are fear, anxiety, depression, losses, panic attacks, triggers, and destructive patterns. According to Scribd, writing down your feelings enables you to analyze your thoughts and behavior, reason them out, and effect change. Scientific research shows that by learning to think differently, we can change the brain. There is a need to initiate the necessary changes to restore order in your life. I am just reading this.Consult a professional to help your daughter. This is from literature so I am saying this can still be worth a try.
Help her help herself,
Manang
