Dear Manang,
I am trying to locate the relatives of a friend who is in the hospital but cannot be brought home because she has nowhere to go. She has been abandoned by her relatives and her recovery is important. There are no senior homes in this city and she needs to be brought to Manila if ever. Are there other facilities for people like her?
Jellina of Pucsusan, Baguio City

Dear Jellina,
You have a problem there. There are many elders who need care but have no place to shelter them. I am at a loss for words. I don’t know what to do about this situation. Perhaps one of the generous institutions could construct one facility for the homeless. But that is not now and not real. My only take is that God is good. He will make some arrangements that will fit her. Have faith.
Keep praying,
Manang

Dear Manang,
I just realized the national ID system is really a bad thing. Even registering your SIM card is a bad idea because you are open to attack from every corner of the world. I recently started receiving text messages and calls collecting a loan that I took more than 10 years ago. Can you imagine how much my P10,000 balance could’ve become? Don’t imagine, they want me to pay them P120,000. In my mind, I actually paid back the principal and was just paying interest on the surcharges. I am not in a position to pay for anything because my meager pension is not even enough for my maintenance medicines. I wonder what I should do.
Wella of Bakakeng Central, Baguio City

Dear Wella,
According to your rights, you must just communicate with the company regarding your situation and be honest about your capacity to pay. Although the law says you cannot go to jail because of it, it is less stressful if you just keep open communication with them. This is all I can say but you can seek legal advice to handle it.
Be frank,
Manang
