Retain the entrance exam at BSU

The plan of the Benguet State University to permanently scrap the entrance examination for incoming students is not a wise move.
Admission through examination of student proficiency is necessary. BSU ought to uphold a quality academic environment of competent administrators and teachers and having qualified students to pursue higher education through an entrance test is a way of screening students to take courses within their inclinations based on the result of the examination.
Students who qualify to take a particular field of study have better chances of succeeding in their course of work, passing the licensure examination, and excelling in their profession.
There should also be a match for the degree programs that students take to job opportunities to ensure gainful employment. — PERCIVAL B. ALIPIT, Baguio City
