Unite against CPP’s 53-year reign of terror
The Communist Party of the Philippines together with the New People’s Army and National Democratic Front are set to commemorate on Dec. 26 the 53rd founding anniversary of the oldest persisting armed organization in the Philippines.
For 53 years, the CPP has tormented the nation by waging war against the government, launching attacks against government forces at the expense of innocent civilians, and robbing the people of a peaceful life.
Cordillerans are also witnesses to the atrocities caused by the CPP/NPA/NDF.
What right do they have to celebrate when all they did is commit massacres, attack, extort, abuse human rights, and other grave criminal activities, some of which they admitted without guilt or calling these as not intentional?
The CPP has clearly spread terror particularly in poor remote villages in the country, which they have long been keeping impoverished to maintain the guerilla bases of the NPAs and are sent support by organizations under the NDF.
After the government’s victory with the Supreme Court’s declaration of the Anti-Terror Act of 2020 as constitutional except for two provisions, the CPP’s followers under the NDF appear defensive as there is now a law that will finally put an end to their activities.
They continue to spread speculations maligning the integrity of the decision made by the highest judicial body of the land to insinuate that the Anti-Terror Act is not constitutional.
Such allegation is clearly designed to prevent all of us from appreciating the intention of the said law, which ultimately aims to protect us from terror attacks even at its early stage of planning.
Let us protest their 53 years of terror.
The CPP is an organization that has been intentionally committing evil deeds against the people. They have no right and reason to celebrate.
I urge my kababayan to denounce the CPP/NPA/NDF and we must put our acts together to finally end this Maoist-inspired rebellion in Asia. — MA. LOUISA FOLIGAN, spokesperson, Samahan ng Mamamayang Nagkakaisa Kontra Terrorismo
