Telling the truth is not red-tagging

The Makabayan bloc has been throwing tirades against Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte over clamors of their so-called “red-tagging.”

They criticized the Vice President for spending time on “red-tagging” their party-lists such as the Kabataan, Anakpawis, Bayan Muna, ACT Teachers, and Gabriela rather than attending to concerns on safe resumption of face-to-face classes. They likened her to her father, former President Rodrigo Road Duterte, for “terror-tagging” their party-lists.

The Vice President has utterly responded to these criticisms and allegations of “red or terror-tagging” by emphasizing these party-lists have indeed ties with the underground movement.

The Vice President stressed this is the truth and revealing this truth is not “red or terror-tagging.” She therefore calls the public not to fall on the drama and issues floated by the Makabayan bloc.

Staying true to her mandate as Education secretary, such move of the Vice President gives a strong boost on efforts of educating the people on the true color of the front organizations of the underground movement.

Former members of this designated terrorist organization and even Communist Party of the Philippines founder Jose Maria Sison has identified the front organizations working for them.

Former rebels pointed out how the Makabayan bloc party-lists serve the CPP by infiltrating the government through the Congress.

Despite tons of testimonies, the Makabayan bloc insists on their drama of being “red or terror-tagged” to elicit sympathy from the people to recover from seats lost during the 2022 elections.

Such clamor is not valid and should no longer be entertained in any way by any sector or audience.

If we are committed to help in attaining lasting peace, let us heed the Vice President’s call not to fall for their drama and grow to be more discerning and productive citizens. — MA. LOUISA FOLIGAN, spokesperson, Samahan ng Mamamayang Nagkakaisa Kontra Terrorismo
