Various events have been lined up for the Women’s Month celebration, which will kick-off on March 6 during the flag raising ceremonies at city hall grounds.
Activities for the Kababaihan Festival however started earlier through the search for Outstanding Women Leaders of Baguio with five ladies to be awarded on March 16 at the PFVR gym followed by a parade of womens’ groups.
In the afternoon, through the initiative of Councilor Elmer Datuin, a women-themed concert at Malcolm Square is offered for the public.
A forum on understanding gender-based violence is set on March 8 at the city hall multipurpose hall. The same forum is conducted in the afternoon of March 22 for Kalipi members at SM Baguio.   
Women officers-for-a-day will take charge of the barangays, also on March 8, in coordination with the Special Services Division, barangay council, and Kalipi group.
A life skills for women training is scheduled on March 10, through the Baguio City Police Office substation 3 in coordination with District 1 Kalipi group and the Baguio City Young Adults.  
A training on gender mainstreaming in the barangays will be conducted on March 14 through the sangguniang panlungsod and office of Councilor Betty Lourdes Tabanda, chair of the committee on health and sanitation, ecology, and environmental protection.
The City Health Services Office (CHSO) will hold a women’s health forum for Kalipi members on March 14 at the CHSO hall.
Baguio City School of Arts and Trades will conduct baking classes for women on March 15 and 17, in coordination with the Technical Education Skills Development Authority and Balikatan sa Kaunlaran.
A garden-to-kitchen cooking contest will be held on March 17, with Kalipi members at the City Engineering Office compound through the efforts of councilors Elmer Datuin and Leandro Yangot, Jr.
A forum on gender sensitivity and violence against women and children is set on March 17 done through the City Social Welfare and Development Office and unit offices.
The Persons with Disability Affairs Office headed by Dr. Samuel Aquino scheduled various activities for women with disability such as lecture on Safe Spaces Act on March 20, gender sensitivity orientation on March 27, and Seminar on VAWC on March 31, all at the city multi-purpose hall.
Other activities are free papsmear and visual inspection acetic acid at CHSO; and forum on how to keep girls safe by the Girl Scout of the Philippines.
An Eco Fashion Show and Search for Ginang ng Tahanan will be conducted on March 31, venue of which will be announced soon.
Purple Wednesdays will also be observed on March 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29. The color shows efforts for gender equality, justice, and dignity. – Julie G. Fianza
