Another Filipino mixed martial arts fighter has been added to the winning column, as Fritz Biagtan won his ONE Championship debut via stoppage against Nurmukhammad Adamkhonov on Feb. 17 in Bangkok, Thailand on Feb. 17.
The 27-year-old Biagtan started hot as he unleashed series of strikes to the head and body of his opponent, who could hardly get his rhythm.
Adamkhonov also had his share of strikes while pedaling backward to avoid the series of strikes from the Filipino fighter.
Both fighters slowed down on the final and third round, forcing the referee to warn them with a yellow card, which apparently awaken Biagtan to complete his mission – to bring home the win.
Recomposed, Biagtan unleashed another series of strikes that brought Adamkhonov to the canvass and never recovered.
“I was really motivated for this fight. Of course, the bonuses are an added motivation, but the most important thing to do is to win and show the world that I have what it takes to compete and that ONE was not wrong in signing me,” Biagtan said in a post-fight interview.
“Until now, I didn’t expect that kind of performance. I think that’s the value of hardwork and having excellent training partners and coaches around me,” he added.
