There seems to be a surge of cancer because another friend has said that she was diagnosed with breast cancer. My fear of this has become profound and I don’t want to go to the doctor because of the pain I feel on my right side. I imagine that I might have cancer too. I wonder if there are people like me who would rather bear the pain than know what it is about. Listening to the many complaints of people around me has made me so scared.

You are not alone in this fear for doctors. I share your fear because I don’t have the money to buy all the medicines the doctor might prescribe. But on another view, those little pains might just be superficial and can be resolved with some medicine or treatment and not necessarily expensive. Some pain in the knee might be resolved with a one-week treatment of some medicine and not a complicated disease. Please just go to the doctor even for just a checkup. Who knows if you just need some water therapy or exercise to resolve what you are feeling. There is a second opinion for cancer before you get panicky. Go to the public hospital to save some money.

My son graduated from college but has no work. He has applied in numerous companies but has not been called. Are there other possible opportunities for people like him? I worked most of my life to send him to school and now that my task is complete, this effort has gone to waste, more so, his years of sacrifice. Where do we go from here?

With technology, many jobs have been invented and are open for those who are willing to learn and do the job. If your son is techie, there are online jobs that are open for those who are good in English or drawing. There are call centers that continue to recruit. Your son’s age represents the generation that was exposed to the Internet and the many activities attached to it. I am sure that your son does not need a physical job. If he does, there are many others that need warm bodies if he isn’t choosy about having a diploma and working in the same line. Something will come up for sure.
