The rich cultural heritage of the people of Kalinga was highlighted during the awarding ceremony of the 2nd Cordillera Golfers Foundation, Inc. Golf Tournament at the CAP-John Hay Cultural and Trade Center on April 6.

Clad in their traditional garb, young members of the Lubuagan cultural dance troupe highlighted some of the time-tested traditional or cultural practices of their great ancestors passed through generations and what made them great people in this highland region.

Thanks to their choreographer Benson Saclag for guiding the members and support staff of the cultural dance troupe who likewise invited the participants to a community cultural dance to the amazement of players from other parts of the country and overseas.

The CGFI through the initiative of Kalinga Rep. Allen Jesse Mangaoang and his brother Bond Holden has invited cultural dance troupe from Kalinga, being the featured province in the charity tournament.

Last year, young and old performers from Kabayan, Benguet were also invited to perform during the awarding ceremony, in the same venue. Benguet was the featured province in the maiden tournament.

Aside from its outreach program, CGFI also aims to help promote the rich cultural heritage of the ethno-linguistic groups in the six provinces of the Cordillera. – CGFI release
