As a hearing-impaired senior citizen, I went looking around for something or some place to help solve some of my health problems because I shun doctors and hospitals.
I was invited to a health clinic at Km. 4 La Trinidad, Benguet many meters fronting the Benguet Electric Cooperative office. The clinic caters to all who have health concerns. Lectures are given before any treatment is made.
At first, out of curiosity I attended the lecture and then made some observations. A uniformed staff made a 30-minute lecture on the beginnings, how’s and why’s of the clinic. She said that a South Korean scientist discovered “the project” to help his sickly and ageing mother. The scientist wanted to help others especially those who are sick and cannot afford to consult a doctor or go to a hospital.
The treatment is free. Clients are only asked to commit to show up at the clinic every day for an hour or two. I then submitted for treatment daily and as the months went by, I felt some of my health problems were fading.
To be sure, I went for a check-up and my doctor said all my laboratory results were almost normal except that I still had to take my daily maintenance medication.
I would like to thank Fermina Montes, Jaeann Campana, Noemi Tayaban, Mia Krizelle Curatan, and the rest of the support staff for being so accommodating in so many ways. Special mention to Mageline Carlit, who heads the staff. May your tribe increase. — MYRNA L. BAYENG, La Trinidad, Benguet
