Does God send messages to show us that the person we are with and in love with is the right one? I have prayed on it and have sent several petitions through the Virgin Mother about this man who I want to spend the rest of my life with. Although my petitions have not been replied to yet, he has been the one confirming with signs and behavior. He recently said that he would be ready in two years to settle down. This was in my mind too. Can you recommend a way to be sure?

God moves in mysterious ways. We can get many messages from Him but also miss some or misinterpret some. Our faith is constantly tested in both the positive and negative ways. I would just like to say that in all these circumstances, we are being tested. I don’t want to dissuade you but sometimes we believe what we want to instead of seeing reality. Our emotions get the better of us in the good and bad times. In the negative we become frail and get depressed and misled by our emotions. My dear, I pray for the answers to be your guide. Continue to ask for help and strength in all that you do.

A five-year engagement has been broken because the long distance affair suddenly cooled off. He came to Baguio to see me and the family a year ago and the engagement should have been marriage come January. When he called last week he suddenly said that we have to postpone because he has to care for his mother. He said he can’t call often. I didn’t let him see my disappointment but my heart is crushed.

Sometimes foreigners have a culture that is cold to us. But think it isn’t too bad. I wouldn’t call it as the end. He would have said or even not said anything and just vanished. I have a feeling that it will change when his mother improves.
