A senior citizen from Poblacion West, Lamut, Ifugao has successfully earned a national certification (NC) on Organic Agriculture Production (OAP) from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.
Concepcion Maddul is among the 225 trainees of the Technical Vocational Education and Training program of the Ifugao State University through the Training Competency and Assessment Center, in partnership with the Tesda. She is also the lone leadership awardee of her batch.
Maddul and the other trainees received their NCs on OAP, Agricultural Crop Production, and Care Giving during the 1st TVET recognition and graduation rites on Feb. 17 at the Lamut campus of IFSU.
Maddul thanked Tesda and IFSU for the free training they had provided. She encouraged other senior citizens to avail of the free trainings offered by the government.
As a previous trainee of the National Manpower and Youth Council, Maddul said she is still applying the knowledge and skills she learned from that training.
Tesda-Ifugao Provincial Director Diosdado Escalante informed the graduates that the various programs of their agency would not be possible without their partners who helped implement their projects.
“Tesda does not directly implement programs so we thank IFSU for embracing the program of our agency,” he said.
IFSU President Eva Marie C. Dugyon encouraged the TVET graduates to maximize their qualifications to effect change and development in their communities.
“You truly made us and your families proud. Your graduation is not the end-all and be-all of it, rather your graduation and your recognition today is only the beginning of a new and tougher journey as you chart your career and shape your future,” she added.
Dugyon assured that IFSU will always extend and promote services and skills development that are needed by the people of Ifugao. – Marcelo B. Lihgawon
