Dear Manang,
Should I pay for all of my father’s debts? I already pay for his house rent and give him a weekly allowance of P2,000. I pay for electricity and water bills. I can’t understand how much more money he needs? To my mind, he has more money than a pension gives and he can’t even save a little. My siblings don’t help me with his expenses. I want to send him down to my sister but no one wants to take him in. What do I do?
Enzo of Holy Ghost, Baguio City

Dear Enzo,
I am sad for you but I can’t believe that some parents have the mindset of your father. I am of the school that praises the doer of the good deed. This is because I know you have earned your space in God’s kingdom. The trials we endure daily are not without blessings and even if we want to raise our arms in surrender, there is nothing else we can do about it. I say praise God that you are a good son. Give him a piece of your mind sometimes just to let off some steam.
God bless you,
Manang

Dear Manang,
I don’t seem to want to stay with the group anymore. Amidst the work that I do for them, I don’t seem to fit their standards. I still get reprimanded for the little things but not appreciated for what has been completed. I never complained in the past because I must have had more patience. But I feel that it is time to say good bye. Just saying.
Laarni of Quirino Hill, Baguio City

Dear Laarni,
I can feel your annoyance and understand it. It is among the most important needs of man to get affirmation. That simple. Thanks, is the magic word more than I love you. When people begin to forget this simple thing, we have lost our gentleness and care. Leave if it will make you happy. No one deserves to be unhappy.
Say thanks before you go,
Manang
