BESAO, Mountain Province – Backpacks containing school supplies, hygiene kits, a pair of slippers, and a raincoat were distributed to 63 students of Tamboan Elementary School (TEC) here on Feb. 3.
The sets of packages were donated by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) in coordination and partnership with the Provincial Government of Mountain Province.
TEC Principal Joy Milan thanked the Pagcor for donating the bags with supplies and the provincial government for coordinating the request of the school to Pagcor and for providing the needed transportation of the backpacks.
“These gifts will surely motivate our pupils to continue their schooling and will save their parents money for school supplies for their children,” Milan said.
Gov. Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr. led the turnover of the backpacks to the students. He was assisted by District II Board Member Henry D. Bastian, Jr. and barangay officials.
Lacwasan said the provincial government is steadfast in its effort in continuously forging partnerships to help uplift the living conditions of the province’s constituents.
“One of the major thrusts of our social policy is education so we continue to find ways and means to help our children. We thank the Pagcor for including Mountain Province in its priority list and we are looking forward to continue our partnership to help our people,” the governor said.
Two wheelchairs from the office of Sen. Bong Go were also recently turned over to two persons with disability from Bontoc.
The requests of the PWDs were also coursed through the Office of Governor and subsequently approved by the senator.
“The provincial government will continuously tap and partner with benevolent organizations to usher assistance to our people, especially the needy and those in the countryside,” Lacwasan said. – Erwin S. Batnag
